Campaign Planning

Initiative templates

Build reusable playbooks for recurring initiatives — pre-plan campaigns, assets, scheduling, assignments, and briefs so your team can spin up complex launches in seconds.

Step-by-step guide

Where to find initiative templates

Initiative templates live under Content → Initiatives. This is separate from the main Initiatives page where your active initiatives are managed.

Creating a template

Click to add or edit an initiative template. You can configure:

  • Name and description — e.g. "Restock" for a recurring restock initiative.
  • Default template — Optionally mark it as the default for quick access.
  • Associated themes — Tags for organizational purposes.

Pre-planning campaigns

Add as many campaigns as you need to the template. Each planned campaign supports:

  • Campaign type — Select the type (e.g. Email, SMS).
  • Dynamic naming patterns — Use {{date}} and {{initiative_name}} as dynamic variables alongside static text.
  • Day offset — Schedule each campaign relative to the initiative start date. Use positive or negative values (e.g. +0 for launch day, +1 for the day after).
  • Schedule time and time zone — Set the send time for each campaign.
  • Assignee — Optionally pre-assign a team member.
  • QA Checklist — Optionally attach a QA checklist to the campaign.

Pre-planning assets

Add planned assets to the template with:

  • Name, description, assignee, and day offset — Same configuration options as campaigns.
  • Campaign association — Link each asset to one or more of the planned campaigns in the template. The dropdown updates dynamically as you add or remove campaigns.
  • Custom brief — Attach a custom creative brief template and pre-fill its field values.

Using a template to create an initiative

When creating a new initiative, select Build from template and choose your template. You will see a summary of how many campaigns and assets will be created. Then:

  1. Set a start date and end date for the initiative.
  2. All campaign schedule dates will be calculated automatically based on the start date and each campaign's day offset.
  3. Click Create initiative. It may take a few seconds for large templates.

Once created, the initiative will contain all pre-configured campaigns and assets — complete with naming conventions, schedule dates, assignments, QA checklists, and creative briefs.

Tips

  • Create templates for every recurring initiative type (restock, product launch, seasonal sale, etc.) to standardize your workflow.
  • Use dynamic naming variables so campaign and asset names automatically include the date and initiative name — no manual renaming needed.
  • Day offsets are relative to the initiative start date, so the same template works regardless of when you run it.
  • If you accidentally create an initiative from a template and need to undo it, see Deleting an initiative to bulk-remove everything in one step.
